The work order is not the maintenance system
The work order is one transaction inside a larger model of defects, planning, readiness, execution, condition, history and future maintenance demand.

Work orders are central to maintenance execution, but they are not the maintenance system itself.
A useful maintenance model begins before the work order is created and continues after it is closed.

→ future planThe closed work order should improve what the organisation knows about the asset. Failure mode, component history, labour, materials, downtime, condition and follow-up requirements should feed later planning rather than disappear into an archive.
